GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE

Under the No Surprises Act, you are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of what the charges could be for the services provided to you. It is not possible for a therapist to know, in advance, how many sessions may be necessary or appropriate for a given person upon the initiation of therapy. Your total cost of services will depend upon the number of sessions you attend, your individual circumstances, and the type and amount of services that are provided to you. This estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to obtain any services listed, nor does it include any services rendered to you that are not identified here. If you receive a bill at least $400 more than your GFE, you may dispute or appeal the bill.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Your Approach to Therapy?

I employ an eclectic therapeutic approach, integrating evidence-based models like The Gottman Method and CBT. Additionally, I draw from traditional forms of marriage and family therapy to create a personalized, client-centered experience. This collaborative method emphasizes effective communication, emotional connection, and cultural considerations, promoting holistic well-being for individuals, couples, and families.

Do You Accept Insurance?

I do not. Insurance companies require that I assign you a mental health diagnosis. Because I specialize in relationship/marital challenges, and deep, transformational work, it is not beneficial to label clients with a diagnosis that would remain on their health record or be in misalignment with the focus of therapy. If you present with a prior mental health diagnosis, please know that I will honor that part of your experience and work with you on those issues.

We know that using insurance is a factor, and perhaps a necessity for clients. I will also make sure you understand the costs involved in services here at Thrive before you begin your first session. If insurance is a necessity I will gladly refer you to providers I may know in your network. However, your best bet may be to contact your insurance provider for a list of therapists in your area.

How Much Does Therapy Cost?

In general, you will find that the cost of therapy varies between professionals based on a few different factors (therapist's licensure status, the amount of certifications they have or specialty training they have completed, and more).

With that, therapy is an investment, but one in which the benefits will repay you twofold if you accomplish the goals and change you desire. I value your time, my time, and the services I have to offer and charge accordingly. The rates are listed above, should you have any questions, reach out and let me know.

How Often Should I/We Come to Sessions?

This is a great question. Typically, the counseling process can take anywhere from 8-20 sessions. This, of course, depends on your motivation and the efforts that you apply between the sessions.

I recommend clients begin therapy weekly, as this will allow you and me to create an alliance and establish momentum toward your goals. However, you may find it beneficial to spaced out sessions as you continue to explore progress and goals. It is important for you to know that you will experience more noticeable effects when you engage in more frequent sessions.

Some clients prefer to continue a therapeutic relationship for check-in support after initial goals are met. This can be helpful and similar to the best practice of taking your car into the shop now and then for an oil change or tune-up. Why not do that for yourself and your relationships as well?

You will typically know when you have reached a point where you feel you no longer need to come. I am very transparent with clients about discussing this and checking in with you to make sure you feel our work is on track with the goals you have established.

How Long Are Sessions?

Session lengths are tailored to meet the unique needs of my clients. Individual sessions typically run for 50 minutes, allowing for focused and personalized exploration. For couples and families, I allocate extended sessions of 90 minutes. This extended time frame enables a more comprehensive and in-depth approach, recognizing the intricacies of relationship dynamics and the importance of thorough exploration and resolution.

My Partner/Spouse Doesn't Think We Have Problems. Do I Still Come?

If this is you, don't worry!

It’s not uncommon for one partner to be uninterested in attending therapy. Perhaps they don’t think anything is wrong, or they don’t feel that they are contributing to any issues. More and more people are becoming open to the idea of counseling (especially because it is a more holistic approach to dealing with issues), but there still remains a stigma against it for many families, cultures, and individuals.

A helpful thing to try would be to have a gentle, non-defensive conversation with your partner, inviting them to be a part of the process with you. Don’t pressure them or give ultimatums.

If your partner refuses, then absolutely come alone. It is not uncommon for one person to begin therapy and the other to feel more willing to come when they see you making healthy changes. You can still experience growth and relief by working on your side of the situation. Relationships always take two, but change can begin with one.
